Orange Juice Smoothie

Healthy eating doesn’t get any simpler than this delicious, no-cook recipe!

Ingredients:
Half pint orange juice
1 banana
6 strawberries
1 teaspoon honey

Method:

  1. Get kids to pour juice into blender.
  2. Kids can cut up banana and add to blender.
  3. Get kids to wash and cut strawberries in half.
  4. Add strawberries to blender. Get kids to add honey to blender.
  5. Put lid on and blend for a few seconds.
  6. Pour into glasses and enjoy.

Cook’s Tips
For variation, put a spoon of ice cream on top of drink.

Orange Creamsicle

This yummy shake combines the zest of orange and the rich, smooth flavor of vanilla.

Ingredients:
1 cup orange juice
4 scoops vanilla frozen yogurt

Method:

  1. Combine the orange juice and frozen yogurt in a blender or food processor. Blend until creamy. Serves 1.
Orange Juice Salad

A delicious fruity treat that serves 4-6.

Ingredients:
2 bananas, peeled and sliced
2 apples, sliced
2 oranges, peeled and sectioned
2 kiwis, peeled and sectioned
2 stalks celery, chopped
1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
3/4 cup orange juice

Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Keep in refrigerator until serving time. Makes four to six servings.
Tangy French Toast

This is quick, easy and really good- fun. Little adult supervision will be required to make a delicious snack.

Ingredients:
2 eggs
100ml Sqeez Orange Juice
4 slices of bread
Oil for frying

Method:

  1. Beat the eggs and Sqeez Orange Juice together and pour into a flat dish.
  2. Heat a little oil in a non-stick frying pan.
  3. Soak each slice of bread in the mixture and lay them down in the hot pan.
  4. Cook until golden brown, turning once.
  5. Serve hot with slices of orange and maple syrup.
Berry Chocolate Yogurt Pops

A natural and berry flavourful treat. It’s ideal when your kids are clamouring for sweets and you want them to eat something healthy.

Ingredients:
450ml Sqeez Benefits Cranberry Juice
225ml Strawberry yogurt
315g Frozen whole strawberries
2 tablespoons Icing sugar, if desired
40g mini chocolate chips
8 6oz paper cups or plastic freezer pop mold
8 craft sticks
(Makes 8 pops).


Method:

  1. Put all ingredients, except chocolate chips, in a blender. Blend on high speed until smooth.
  2. Pour the berry mixture into paper cups or freezer pop mold. Freeze 30 minutes or until slightly slushy.
  3. Stir 1 teaspoon chocolate chips into each cup. Insert wooden craft sticks in center. Freeze for an additional 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until completely firm.
  4. To serve, peel paper cup away from pop, or dip outsides of molds in warm water to loosen. For longer storage, place frozen pops in a large resealable freezer bag. Freeze up to 2 weeks.
Double Orange Walnut Muffins

Tastes scrumptious and contains a healthy dose of Vitamin C

Ingredients:
200g Plain flour
140g Oats flakes
55g Granulated sugar
2 teaspoons Baking powder
½ teaspoon Bread soda
¼ teaspoon Salt
85g Coarsely chopped toasted walnuts*
225ml Sqeez Orange Juice
115ml Skimmed milk
1 Large egg
40g Butter or margarine, melted and cooled

Method:

  1. Heat oven to 200ºC/400ºF/Gas Mark 6. Grease a medium muffin tray or line with paper baking cups.
  2. Stir together flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, bread soda and salt in large bowl. Add most of the walnuts (keeping one third for the topping); mix well and set aside. In medium bowl, beat the 200ml of the Sqeez juice, milk, egg and melted butter with whisk or fork until well blended. Add all at once to dry ingredients. Stir just until dry ingredients are evenly moistened. (Do not overmix.) Pour into prepared muffin tray, dividing evenly. Sprinkle tops with remaining walnuts.
  3. Bake 15 to 18 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  4. Remove pan from oven and immediately spoon remaining Sqeez orange juice over tops of muffins, dividing evenly. Let stand 5 minutes. Sprinkle tops of muffins with sugar. Remove from pan. Serve warm.
  5. Serves 12.

Cook’s Tips*
Chopped toasted pecans may be substituted for walnuts. Nuts may be omitted, if desired.
